More Cappuccino

December 14, 2006 · Leave a Comment

The title is a favorite expression of Ned, the activity is also a staple in our daily rituals. The new theme of our blogsite sort of transports us to another place, certainly not in the cafe areas in the Philippines, but familiar because of the cafe umbrella and the snazzy cafe signages. Our systems are pumped good with caffeine and yet we are more relaxed this Yuletide season. Albeit calmed by the aftermaths of two hurricanes in the Philippines, there is much to feel for. But the caffeine in our veins can also make us feel rage over the callousness of our politicians scampering faster than Santa’s little helpers this season but failing to aid the ones hit hardest by the calamities. They are shameful and unapologetic, many of them old and creeps by reputation and many so young and already trapos. They love only their voices going on and on about trifles and not a mention of the work they do in the flooded areas and the no electricity zones. But in Philippine democracy, these scoundrels are able to buy people’s votes. At least the people get to cast votes. If these rats had their way, the vote ought to be rocked and removed from our hands. Then, they can have the longest terms, the time of their lives basking in their corruption.
